Purinoceptors are widely expressed in most tissues, including the rat urinary bladder,
and are well known to possess both pro- and anti-inflammatory functions. Muscarinic
receptors are the main contractile receptors in the rat urinary bladder. In the current
study, we investigated the impact of pre-treatment with purinergic antagonists on
the cholinergic contractile function of the rat urinary bladder during inflammation.
