Complex regional pain syndrome: A systemic disease of the autonomic nervous system?

      Background: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) associates pain and focal autonomic manifestations. Reports have suggested the involvement of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in CRPS, far from the site of pain. The CRPS-Autonomic Bakken Study (CABS) aims at determining whether CRPS is a focal manifestation of a generalized disorder of the ANS.
